Adult Spirituality
Whatever else it may be, faith is a gift. It is offered to us again and again. And being a true gift, it is never forced. We can choose to accept or not to accept.
Whatever else it may be, the gift of faith is also expansive. Faith expands and enhances our capacity to experience life. It opens our eyes to the abiding presence of the Divine within all of creation. With faith we come to discover who God really is and what it means to be human. We can know our true origin and our true destiny. With faith we find purpose and meaning. We can trust in the worth of our actions and choices. Faith moves us from surface perceptions to those places where the deepest mysteries of life unfold.
Whatever else it may be, faith is God’s gift. Faith is not something we acquire by any acts of our own initiative. Let’s not think that programs in adult spirituality and faith formation can confer or increase the gift of faith. Programs such as those that you will see described here are only tools meant to help us respond to God’s gift of faith. Lectures, workshops and retreats bring us together so that we can learn how better to grow into and out of the faith that has been offered to us. And perhaps most importantly, they offer us new opportunities to accompany each other on the journey of spirit.
