Community Outreach
The Community Outreach Group invites men and women to participate by sharing their time and talent with those in need. Outreach is made up of more than twelve different volunteer social service organizations serving young and old throughout the Chicago area. From tutoring a child in basic math and reading skills, befriending a homeless person, to teaching literacy to persons of all ages, volunteers touch the lives of others and enrich their own lives through their experiences. Volunteers come from all walks of life and sometimes are part of a group of co-workers who desire to contribute to team involvement.

Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly
Web site: http://chicago.littlebrothers.org/
Elderly people who have outlived their family and friends, sometimes even their own children, are left alone to face the loss of physical abilities and the challenge of tiring minds. Little Brothers, located at 355 N. Ashland in Chicago, matches elders with volunteers who help relieve isolation by providing transportation, visitation and friendship to elderly participants living in the city. Volunteers can also organize and deliver groceries from the pantry, cook and serve meals for holidays and celebrations of life and accompany their "old friends" on outings to ballgames, museums and other attractions. Hours are flexible.
The Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly family of old friends numbers over 1,000 men and women all over the age of 70, living throughout Chicago. Their average age is 84, and they represent the ethnic diversity of the Chicago community: 41% Caucasian, 37% African-American, and 22% Hispanic. Many of them come to us isolated, fearful, and physically and emotionally frail. These are people who, in many cases, have "fallen through the cracks" in a social system that is not always kind to the elderly.

How do you make a difference in a child's life?
Answer:
Be a volunteer tutor at The Children's Place Association.
For many of you, spring means the end of the semester or to others, the beginning of baseball season. To all of us, the return of the warm weather will be a pleasant reminder of summer fun. Check out these volunteer opportunities that are coming up in the next few months.
Join us the fourth Wednesday of every month from 6-8 p.m. for an evening of arts and crafts, games and tutoring at Old St. Pat's Foster Kids Night at Children's Place - 1800 N.
