Monday, July 16 – Tahera Ahmad and Meghan Burns

Islam in Our Lives: How our faiths (Islam and Catholicism) and others’ faiths affect our daily lives

Bios: Tahera Ahmad is a dynamic Muslim ‘scholar-practitioner’ who serves as the director of interfaith engagement and associate university chaplain at Northwestern University. She has worked closely with the U.S. Justice and State Departments leading both national and international workshops on cultural awareness of Muslims and religious diversity.

Meghan Burns was born and raised Catholic in Ohio. She moved to Chicago and joined the OSP community from 2007 – 2012. In August of 2016, she moved to Doha, Qatar and has been working as a teacher there for the past school year.

Desert Call: How God Used A Hike In Arizona To Change My Future
Last June Fr. Corey Brost, C.S.V., left his job as president of St. Viator High School to work full-time with immigrants. Here the story about why he made that change and how hearing God’s call to work for the rights of our immigrant brothers and sisters will change your life, as well.
Bio: Fr. Corey Brost, C.S.V., is a lawyer, Catholic educator and social justice activist who has been a member of the Clerics of St. Viator for 30 years. He served at St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights from 2007-2016 as a teacher, administrator and, eventually, president. He is also co-founder of the Children of Abraham Coalition, a suburban network of Muslim, Jewish and Christian youth and adult leaders who build interfaith bridges and train interfaith leaders. He spends most of his time these days as co-director of Viator House of Hospitality, a suburban interfaith residence for 18-22-year-old men who have fled their nations to seek refuge in the U.S.

How is faith helping families overcome the issue of violence in some of the most affected neighborhoods? What role does the Church play? Join us as we explore this complex issue affecting our most vulnerable communities and learn what you can do to help.

Fr. Manny Dorantes, known on Twitter as the Tweeting Priest, is Pastor of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood. Fr. Manny is a graduate of the Kellogg School of Management and serves as Global Strategic Advisor to the Secretariat of Communications in the Vatican.

Bio: Betsy Bohlen is the Chief Operating Officer for the Archdiocese of Chicago. Prior to the Archdiocese, Ms. Bohlen was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.
