For the Least of My Brothers and Sisters:
A retreat for young adults focused on Peace and Justice
May 16-18, 2008

Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House
Barrington, Illinois

St. Ignatius of Loyola extended Christ’s invitation to all of us to become “men and women for others.” Each of us is asked to explore how the Gospel calls us to serve others in a variety of ways. This retreat challenges us to see where we can increase our response to the marginalized in our communities.

For the Least is a retreat for young adults in their 20s and 30s, men and women, single and married. The weekend will include:

• Team members sharing their lives of faith and service
• Time and space for your own reflection
• Talking one-on-one with a priest or spiritual director
• Socializing with others who share the spirit of service
• The celebration of Mass and reconciliation

For more information or to register, go to the Charis Ministries events page <http://www.charisministries.org/events/charis_calendar_next.html> . (Registration for this retreat ends May 12)

Hope Sunday
May 18, 2008

When the day of Pentecost came, it found them
gathered in one room
. ~ Acts 2:1

We rise to the hope that church can be born again … and again … and again, but not without each other. We invite you - the young adults of Old St. Patrick's to join with other members, and friends at 10 a.m. on May 18, 2008, the first Sunday following Pentecost Day, for a special spirit-filled and bold celebration of the Eucharist at the UIC Forum.
We yearn to celebrate with you a Pentecost Moment in the life of Old St. Patrick’s Church.

Without you it will NOT be the same!

All were filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to express themselves in foreign tongues and make bold proclamations as the Spirit prompted them. ~ Acts 2:4

The Archdiocese of Chicago’s Catholic Campaign for Immigration Reform hosts:

We are God’s Family
Inter-faith Prayer Service
May 29, 2008
6:30-8:30 p.m.
At Holy Family Parish
1080 W. Roosevelt Rd., Chicago

The Church continues walking with immigrant families as we work for comprehensive immigration reform. Join your brothers and sisters for an interfaith celebration with the Priests for Justice for Immigrants and Sisters and Brothers of Immigrants to renew our hope, love and the unity of God’s family – where all things are possible. We will unite with Jewish, Muslim, and other Christian communities along with our own Bishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller to celebrate our call to be one family of God.

*A procession will begin at University of Illinois Chicago’s John Paul II Newman Center – 700 S. Morgan, Chicago. Please meet there at 6:30 p.m. to walk together to Holy Family Parish just blocks away.

Please bring a family photo that will be used during the celebration. The photo will not be returned but will be delivered to Chicago offices of the presidential candidates as a reminder of our commitment to the family of God and the need for comprehensive immigration reform.

Sunday Nights at Dugan’s

Come join fellow Old St. Pat’s young adults after the 5 p.m. Mass at Dugan’s Irish Pub.  After Mass we’ll gather on the steps in front of church and walk over to Dugan’s (128 S. Halsted) to hang out and hear more about the Old St. Pat’s young adult scene.  All young adults in their twenties and thirties, married and single are welcome.  Please note that on the second Sunday of the month we will not go to Dugan’s, but instead gather in the church hall for After Five.
