Please join us as Hughes Hall is transformed into an international market! More than thirty different vendors will display beautiful and unique products created by artisans from as far away as East Africa and Central America to as near as the West Side of Chicago.
While this “alternative market” offers us a chance to get an early start on holiday shopping, the Solidarity Market is so much more than a holiday craft fair. The Solidarity Market at Old St. Pat’s is another expression of our desire for kinship along with our desire to promote, whenever we are able, the economic equity of our sisters and brothers throughout the world.
Our Market vendors and exhibitors have been selected because of their commitment to:
• fighting poverty and transforming lives through job training and worker justice
• creating entrepreneurial opportunities for people often denied access to markets
• being good stewards of the earth’s resources
Our support of the Solidarity Market is another opportunity for us to live out our commitment to “Care for Our Common Home.”
In addition to the special items our vendors will have for sale, they will be delighted to share with you the stories of the people they work with, including their struggles and successes. Please stop by Hughes Hall and meet these remarkable people and learn about their efforts to create a better world!
Refreshments, of course, will be served.
