Old St. Patrick’s Church invites you to an At the Crossroads Lecture
The Catholic Church and the Struggle against
White Nationalism: Missing in Action?
with Fr. Bryan Massingale
Many are speaking about a "national reckoning with racism" because of increased attention to the Black Lives Matter Movement. However, the unjust killings of unarmed African Americans are but a symptom of a much deeper social disorder, namely, the rise of explicit white nationalism as a central challenge in U.S. life. This presentation places the Black Lives Matter movement in the context of the threat that white nationalism poses to American democracy, and raises questions about the adequacy of Catholic witness for racial justice.
