Let your light shine so that others may see your good work as a sermon of God’s love to the world. – Millard Fuller, Founder of Habitat for Humanity International
2013 FOUNDATIONS WORKTOURS
Memphis: June
Participants will volunteer with Catholic Charities of Western Tennessee through a variety of organizations that work with the marginalized during their week in Memphis. From the elderly to homeless, refugees to children, teens will not only serve their brothers and sisters, but gain an understanding of their struggles and a walk away with a unique perspective on this small city.
New Orleans: July
Participants will volunteer with The St. Bernard Project, located in St. Bernard Parish, as part of Foundations’ ongoing commitment to return to the areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina to aid in recovery and rebuilding efforts. This will be the group’s fifth time to the affected area, and their third time helping in New Orleans. The mission of the St. Bernard Project is to create housing opportunities so that Hurricane Katrina survivors can return to their homes.
North Carolina: August
Participants will serve with Forsyth County Habitat for Humanity in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Throughout the week, teens will help build new homes for this bustling affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. The mission of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Please be sure to follow our fundraising and preparation efforts through the Old St. Pat’s Crossroads Bulletin!
