“Homeboy Industries and I endorse North Lawndale Works as a program that promotes inclusivity in hiring and a commitment to the employment of formerly incarcerated men and women. For those on the margins, this program seeks to imagine pathways for people who face significant barriers to securing employment and the dignity that comes with having a job. We know that a main cause of recidivism is joblessness so we should then work together in solution and promote this idea of hiring so that the formerly incarcerated and those on the margins have access to employment and with this then, economic stability. I salute you Old St. Pat’s Church and your workforce development partners at the North Lawndale Employment Network (NLEN) and Cara Chicago for this undertaking and pray that it will be a resounding success.”
