Dear Old St. Pat’s Community,
At Old St. Pat’s, radical inclusivity is at the heart of our mission. It calls us not only to welcome everyone, but to help remove barriers and create opportunities for people to learn, grow, and belong.
For many years, Scholarship Sunday has given our community a meaningful way to live that mission by supporting Children at the Crossroads (CATC), the scholarship program of The Frances Xavier Warde School (FXW).
This year, we are moving Scholarship Sunday from the spring to September as a kickoff to the new school year, a season filled with possibility and a fitting time to celebrate all that a quality education can bring: knowledge, confidence, faith, friendship, and opportunity for the future.
Since 1989, FXW has been our partner on the Old St. Pat’s campus. Together, we help form young people in faith, compassion, service, academic excellence, and a commitment to justice. And together, we believe financial circumstances should not determine whether a child has access to an FXW education.
FXW serves more than 650 students from over 60 ZIP codes across Chicagoland. Through Children at the Crossroads, more than $17 million in scholarship support has helped more than 700 families access an FXW education.
This Scholarship Sunday, our goal is to raise at least $20,000 in scholarship funds for the next school year. Every contribution helps create access and gives another student the opportunity to learn, discover their gifts, build relationships, and experience the possibilities of a quality education.
On Sunday, September 27, FXW students will share their experiences at Masses throughout the day. After the 9am and 11am Masses, join us in the school courtyard for Old St. Pat’s coffee and donuts and an opportunity to visit FXW and hear from students on what the school means to them.
Join us this Scholarship Sunday. Together, let’s embrace our mission and help open the door to an FXW education for more students and families.
With gratitude and blessings,
Fr. Pat McGrath, S.J.
