Given the pace of most of our lives, recommitting to sabbath is a powerful invitation and focus to build a Lenten practice. As Aristotle wrote, the most significant events in our lives are the most useless. Given how much of our energy is spent on being useful, how our connection to outcome and productivity often comes at the expense of presence, rest and enjoyment of what is…Aristotle might argue we are missing much of the significance of our experience. Sabbath is an invitation to step out of that mindset and step into a different way of being in the world.
