History of the Group
Monday Evening Rosary Group began with a group of Old St. Pat’s parishioners who met in person to pray the Holy Rosary on April 20, 2015.
The Rosary Group met monthly until the Covid Pandemic in early 2020. During the pandemic the Rosary Group met weekly by Zoom, to provide a safe and convenient way to pray every Monday evening. Weekly rosary via the Zoom proved successful and will be continued as the preferred setting.
In Memorium
Marilyn McManus served as the first Prayer Leader of the Monday Evening Rosary Group. Marilyn stepped up when we needed her most, even though her health was failing, Marilyn never failed us. We will always cherish memories of her quick humor and deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. Marilyn succeeded in making us all feel a part of something powerful, even amidst the dire times of Covid lockdown. Marilyn loved to be called a “Prayer Warrior.”

Why do we pray the Rosary?

The purpose of the Holy Rosary is to help us meditate on the great mysteries of our salvation. The ancient prayers of The Our Father joined together with the five decades of The Hail Mary remind us that Mary was and is joined with her Son in all the mysteries of his earthly and heavenly existence.
These simple, meditative repetition of prayers help us to focus on the Mysteries - the Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous. They weave together a story of the birth, life and death of Jesus and his mother Mary. This awareness can be transformative, especially when shared in the setting of group prayer.
The Holy Rosary has a long history. It has been officially approved since declaration by Pope Leo X in 1520. The Blessed Mother herself selected the title of “Our Lady of the Rosary” when she appeared at Fatima in 1917. Her message was “I want you to continue saying your rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary to obtain the end of the war and peace in the world.”
The Holy Rosary has been featured prominently in the messages of many Marian apparitions around the world such as those in Medjugorje, Fatima and Lourdes. The message again and again is Pray the Rosary.
