Interfaith Family School was created in 1994 by parents who acknowledge that both Catholicism and Judaism and are meaningful ways to find God. Interfaith Family School explores the common moral code and shared heritage of the two faiths while instilling a sense of belonging to the Catholic Jewish community.
Students from kindergarten to eighth grade experience both Catholicism and Judaism at age-appropriate levels. Classes meet twice a month on Sunday mornings in The Frances Xavier Warde School. All classes are taught by parents on a rotating schedule. While children are in class, parents not teaching participate in an adult education program.
Interfaith Family School is not intended to be a family’s sole participation in religious activity. By familiarizing children with the holidays and rituals, history and traditions, classes can help to complement a family’s participation in Catholic Masses and/or Jewish services.
