Pastoral Care at Old St. Pat's

Ministry of Care & Healing

During times of sickness, Old St. Patrick's ministers offer compassionate presence and are trained to bring the Eucharist to our members in the hospital, as well as to those who are homebound. To those who are able, Old St. Pat’s offers the Sacrament of Anointing as part of the 12:10 pm Mass on the third Wednesday of the month. All are welcome, especially those who are sick or suffering in any way, mind, body, or spirit.

Ministry of Care, Home Visits with the Eucharist

Picture
At Old St. Pat’s we understand that “sometimes our members cannot come to us, we must go to them.” To us this means that sometimes, we need to offer compassionate presence by entering into another’s arena, listening to another’s story, and responding to another’s need. Too often we under estimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

In this ministry, we bring the bread of life to someone who cannot come to our Church. We have ministers who are trained to bringing the Eucharist to our members in the hospital, as well as to those who are homebound.

If you know someone who would benefit from, a weekly home visit, or companionship during the illness of a family member, please fill out this form.

Mass of Healing, Anointing of the Sick

Picture
On the third Wednesday of each month, Old St. Pat’s offers the Sacrament of Anointing as part of the 12:10 pm Mass. All are welcome, especially those who are sick or suffering in any way, mind, body, or spirit. There will be music at the Mass and the presider will be available in church to anoint any and all in need.

DURING THE MASS, WE PRAY FOR:
  • The sick to be made whole and their caretakers be strengthened by faith
  • People in broken relationships, that they may be given the strength only God’s love can bring
  • All who have endured illness or brokenness and who wait in the hope of God’s healing care.

If you know of someone in need of support or the Sacrament of Anointing outside of the Mass, please contact Bernadette Gibson at 312.493.8737
